ACSR is a concentrically stranded conductor composed of seven or more layers of aluminum wire stranded with a high strength galvanized steel core. The galvanized steel core maybe single wire or stranded. ACSR is commonly used as overhead transmission cable and as primary and secondary distribution cable. It offers optimal strength for line design; the variable steel core stranding enables desired strength to be achieved without sacrificing ampacity
